Car rental is the most common option that travellers choose to get around Croatia. This gives you the freedom of seeing all the places you want to see and allows you to enjoy the magic of Croatia as you drive, all at your own pace.
Croatia is rapidly improving its road infrastructure. There is a major motorway (A1) from Zagreb to Ravca, past Split, with connections to Karlovac, Zadar and Sibenik. Works are currently underway to complete the final sections of the A1 to include Ploce and link through to Dubrovnik which is expected to be completed in 2012 or 2013.
As part of Croatia’s road network the A1 connects to the A3 in the north-west, connecting Zagreb to the region of Slavonia along the Sava River, and the A6 to north-east connecting Zagreb to Rijeka, which gives motorists access to the Istria region.
